A question for those who have installed the forward hinged canopy.

I have a copy of the “Lancair 320 Canopy supplement” which I am using to install the forward hinged canopy on my L360. On page 24 of this supplement, it attempts to describe a method of holding the hinge brackets on a piece of 2 X 4 to simplify the positioning of these brackets in the hinge pockets of the header tank. Hard as I might try, I just cannot grasp what they are trying to describe.

I was wondering if anybody out there might have some photographs or sketches of this procedure which might get me on the right track.
