In the air, on the ramp, in the car, waiting for someone in the lounge, driving directions in the car, address finds etc. It is really cheap for ATT monthly access ($15 non subscription) and works well. I found the internal GPS took a few minutes to home in but it is accurate and responsive for flying and subsequently did not need the Elf attachment. I have flown with and without Elf.
