after chasing a persistent leak at the left wing root eventually traced
it to the fuel probe fitting (pipe-thread type). Initially tightened the
nut with hopes of stopping the leak, but Murphy's law again at work,
blue dye stained bottom of wing indicated a major problem. We have the
second modification of the sensor with a flat surface on the inner end
(not the one with the bolts). After hard work to loosen the probe it was
obvious that the threads were galled. Now we are in the process of
removing the wing. Any suggestions on fixing this problem will be
gratefully received. Vern is going to ship next week ( he doesn't know
it yet) a replacement fuel probe and I hope to be able to use some of
the threads left in the recipient end. I cannot imagine having to redo
the receiving end again.
