I'm considering a move to Arizona (and would probably take my Legacy J ). I've been wondering about the tax implications. I've already paid sales tax in WA state and most states don't require you to pay sales tax twice. But there is the annual registration. I saw something that mentioned 0.5% of the aircraft's value, but don't know if that applies to homebuiltsor even if it is correct. According to my web research, experimentals and homebuilts pay an annual $20 registration fee. I did not see anything about sales tax. My Lancair is not finished -- there is no registration certificate, no airworthiness certificate, merely a collection of items that is beginning to resemble an aircraft. Before I do something stupid like call the state of Arizona and say "this is my name and address and my unfinished Lancair is in a hangar at this airport, do I owe you any money?"
