I didn't = give them my name. When talking to any government treasury employee you = must realize that the information they are giving you is to the best of = their knowledge but is still just hearsay. I do know that if you don't pay the correct taxes, no matter what they = are, the fine will often equal the tax. Again, you should use a call the state as one of the ways to find out = what the appropriate taxes are. It is easy for the state to find your = plane once it is really a plane. i.e.. that is, if you keep it at an = airport. The states all have inspectors that make sure airplanes keep at airports = are registered correctly and have paid the appropriate taxes. According to my web research, experimentals and homebuilts pay = an annual $20 registration fee. I did not see anything about sales tax.=20= >=20 > My Lancair is not finished -- there is no registration certificate, no = airworthiness certificate, merely a collection of items that is = beginning to resemble an aircraft. Before I do something stupid like = call the state of Arizona and say "this is my name and address and my = unfinished Lancair is in a hangar at this airport, do I owe you any = money?" I'd like to find out what the true story is... >=20 > Thanks. You may contact me on-list of off-list at rwolf99@aol.com >=20 > - Rob Wolf -- Lorn H.
