I have put over 1,000 hours on my IV-P since first flight in Sept. of '95 so I have some experience with what survives the rigors of flight. Back in 2001 I posted some recommendations regarding hoses and tubing (copied below). Having another 10 years of experience and I stand by my recommendations.

Below is a picture of a 124J hose assembly end (with dust cap).

Here are the guidelines I used for hoses and lines:

No aluminum tubing forward of the firewall.

No firesleeve aft of the firewall. Aluminum melts at ~1100 F, you are long dead by then.

All flex hose forward of the firewall must be Stratoflex 124 with integral firesleeve. (Sacramento Skyranch has a great deal here where they guarantee the hose will fit or they will make you a new one even if you tell them the wrong length).

NEVER use field replaceable fittings.

Always use swaged fittings and pressure test and flush before use.

Any hard line forward of the fire wall carrying fuel to the engine should be 300 series stainless steel and have firesleeve or other insulation to prevent fuel vaporization. Firesleeve should be installed before swaging the second end.
