From the research I’ve done, you’ve already paid your taxes on the items as you bought them.  Therefore, there is no sales tax.  Use tax on the other hand, may be a different story.  This is normally guided by each state.  Do what I did.  Talk to a tax advisor who knows this stuff in your state.

Subject: Arizona Aircraft Tax

Any Arizonans out there who can enlighten me about aircraft taxes in Arizona?  According to my web research, experimentals and homebuilts pay an annual $20 registration fee.  I did not see anything about sales tax.

My Lancair is not finished -- there is no registration certificate, no airworthiness certificate, merely a collection of items that is beginning to resemble an aircraft.  Before I do something stupid like call the state of Arizona and say "this is my name and address and my unfinished Lancair is in a hangar at this airport, do I owe you any money?" I'd like to find out what the true story is...

Thanks.  You may contact me on-list of off-list at rwolf99@aol.com
