Yes, peanut butter.  Use creamy (the oilier the better) peanut butter and smear it liberally over the tape residue, then leave it there for a day or so.  wipe it with a clean, soft cloth and the residue is gone.  It works. I had masking tape residue stuck on my canopy after years of storage.  I had taped newspaper on it to protect it.
