Lancair
McMinnville, Oregon Fly In
Saturday,
July 10, 2010
You’re
invited to a Lancair Fly In at McMinnville, Oregon, identifier KMMV, Saturday,
July 10, 2010. We’ll meet at the
airport Saturday morning and spend the day at the famous Evergreen Aviation
Museum across the highway from the airport. Lunch will be in the museum cafe.
The
museum has 150 airplanes, including a Lancair. The most famous airplane in their
collection is Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose.
I thought I’d seen big airplanes before, but it is bigger than big. A new space museum opened two years ago with missiles, space
capsules, satellites, an SR-71, and many other exhibits related to space
flight. There
is also an IMAX theater.

The
fly in is a week after the Fourth of July and two weeks before Oshkosh. It’s the same weekend as the Arlington
EAA fly in. I recommend McMinnville
on Saturday, spend the night at a nearby hotel, and then Arlington on
Sunday. It’s about 185 nautical
miles from MMV to Arlington. Or do
Arlington on Friday and join us at MMV Saturday morning. Here’s the link for the Arlington Fly
In:

No
need to RSVP yet. I’ll ask for a
headcount a few weeks before the fly in.
