The comparison using manifold pressure may not be very applicable as a majority of 235 and 235/320's have fixed pitch props.
 
It would be an interesting speed test for a 235/320 (fixed pitch) and a 320 to fly together at the same RPM with the 320 adjusting the prop to the same manifold pressure indicated in the 235/320.  Although the variable would be what length, pitch and manufacturer the 235/320 prop has.

In your matrix (LancairCostSpec.jpg) you show speed and gph. For these
figures, were all aircraft operated at the same rpm & manifold pressure? Or
percent horsepower?
