After spending many years with several builders, Lancair IVP-T N5ND
was issued its airworthiness certificate this morning by DAR Adam Valdez. This Propjet belongs to Mr. Donald Beam, a pharmacist from
Cherryville, NC. The aircraft will be turned over to John Cook next week to start its test flight program and will ultimately be based in
Cherryville. N5ND is powered by a Diemech M601D turboprop, spinning an Avia V508E/84 prop with boots. The airplane has the complete
Turbine Solution Group conversion system, including belly and baggage tanks, air conditioning, flowpack, FWF system, etc, etc, and the last of its
construction was completed here at Diemech over the last year or so. W&B came out perfectly, virtually unable to load past aft CG unless
there's a pair of 300# linebackers in the back seat. I've advised Mr. Beam to join LOBO and expect him to become a member in short order.
Don is a high-time pilot who has owned several experimentals, including an RV6A and a Legacy. He currently flies a Skymaster and is anxious to
press his Propjet into service. We'll provide updates as the flight test program progresses.
