Legacy N97DW (aka “Miss Gina”) took to the skies
on her maiden flight on the afternoon of June 2nd. Mr. Korey
Stafford (Echelon Flight Support) performed the honors and flew her
beautifully! After a perfect “on the numbers” landing and a
short taxi back to the hangar, some champagne and toasting crowned the event!
Many thanks to LML help and support and to Lancair and AirFours builder assist
that helped turn a dream that began 14 years ago as a 320/360 MKII tail “split
kit” into a flying work of art. And of course, mucho thanks to all
the fine folks at Lancair that put up with all of my “stupid”
questions and requests spread over more than a decade. Special thanks to
Charlie Kohler (DAR) who performed a thorough airworthiness inspection and to Marv,
Don Barnes, Rob Logan, Pat Gonsoulin,
Chuck and Jay Hamilton whom all
provided quick help and advice whenever needed. Last but not least,
thanks to my family for putting up with an “on again, off again” project
that seemed to never end! What’s next: 25 hour fly-off, paint (she
flew in white primer), upholstery and, of course, high performance training.
