pre-ignition
. . . The problems that were first mentioned
about engines blowing up with EI seems to me were due to incorrect
timing, too-lean mixture, or
wrong heat-range plugs. . .
I am
always learning and hopefully keeping ahead of some potentially fatal
mistakes. Your note brings up an area that I thought was clear of
problems, running far-lean. I had read that just rich of peak is the worst
area, with 100F+ rich and 50+lean being safe settings. I thought that
too-lean would just reduce power until the cylinder just flames-out and you get
zero power. When my TIT's run high I keep leaning until they cool,
never worrying about a too-lean condition. Have you more details on
this?
