Small Plane Crash In Riverside County Kills Two
May 30, 2008, 1:59 PM PDT

MURRIETTA, Calif. -- Two people were killed Friday when a small airplane
crashed after takeoff from a small airport in southwestern Riverside County,
authorities said.

The single-engine experimental plane appeared to lose power and came down in
a field north of French Valley Airport, said Stephanie Smith of the
Murrietta Fire Department.

Identities of the victims were not immediately known.

The crash, which occurred in the vicinity of businesses and a shopping
center, was reported at 11:49 a.m.

The aircraft was a Lancair Legacy, said Federal Aviation Administration
spokesman Ian Gregor. He did not know the destination of the flight.

The Legacy is a type of plane built from a kit.
