I've used nothing but well washed ex-bath towels for 30 years with very good
results on polycarbonate sailplane canopies. I keep a bag of them ready to
go in the hangar. Use once then wash. Use them for nothing else.
As for cleaners, Novus 1 is a great every day cleaner. If you start to see
halos then I use Novus 2 (slight polish)followed by Novus 1. Another great
all-around cleaner/polish is LP Acrylic Polish and Sealant. It does a great
job of polishing and leaves a static reduced surface behind. I get mine from
Wings and Wheels. A $13 bottle usually lasts a flying season.
The biggest point made by someone else is to use running water and your
clean hand to get most of the dirt and bugs off before doing anything else.
I keep a gallon jug of water handy just to rinse the canopy off after
flying.
Best of luck with your canopy cleaning.

I think we have a handle on the cleaners to use on the
canopy. But, which towel is best/safest to use on the
canopy and the paint? I always thought that a soft
cotton towel to be the best.
