Hi all, I am new to the Lancair world (and relatively new to planes in
general). I got my private in March at 45 hours and am now passing 80,
working on my instrument. Since I got interested in planes (and they have
subsequently worked to take over my life) I've been looking around at planes
that work for what I want for when I am ready to buy. The Lancair 320/360
series has been very attractive to me, and this past weekend I had the
pleasure of meeting Bill Harrelson and getting the opportunity to experience
one of these planes first hand. Now I'm hooked and want one. My intention is
to be able to use it for general fun of course, but also for flying on
varying trips. My standard mission is flying me and sometimes one other
person with a minimum of luggage (if any) for trips of about 100-300 nm each
way, but as I progress in my flying those distances will increase as I have
friends further away who I would like to be able to visit. I'll intend on
flying the plane IFR (once I get my rating and have accumulated enough VFR
hours and instructor IFR hours with it to be comfortable).
In my case, I want to buy a plane that someone else has completed, or
else is close to completion. Completed and flying is better for me, and
since I want to fly IFR a plane that has avionics with that in mind is
preferable.
In my search I'll be asking for opinions and assistance in finding and
evaluating potential aircraft. I start with this one I've noticed on
Trade-A-Plane which isn't too far from me and seems to be well-equipped for
what I want, down to having the levers for throttle/prop/mixture as opposed
to knobs (I prefer levers):

All general thoughts and ideas appreciated!
