Doug, The flap curved lip should have no chance at all of snagging the trailing
edge of the wing parts when attempting to retract a fully deployed flap. Too
close here is not good. If the edge of the curved part exceeds or moves past
the trailing edge on full deployment, build in gussets to stiffen the curved
part to prevent interference with the wing trailing edge. It is my understanding the gap when the flap is in the down position is not
relevant to flight safety or satisfactory performance. Some say the gap size
doesn't matter at all, others say your pride is your guide.

Subject: [LML] flap Clearance amounts LN 360 outboard flaps
LN 360 MKII, outback flaps:
- the manual calls for a 1/16" gap between the upper trailing wing skin and
the upper flap leading edge (Having fun yet..?) in the faired position. It
then says that the gap is allowed to "get dirty" (language I can
understand) when the flap is lowered. How dirty is dirty? Pretty tough
trying to maintain 1/16"... Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
Doug
