I have it in my IVP at the front of the glass
region ahead of the vstab. Works great. The GRT firmware
is really slick and can handle huge compensations. You just take it
out on the ramp, get the ahrs up and then rotate the plane once. It's all
done in a minute and accurate to < 1 degree.
The useful part of this message: I had
a 40 degree deviation on the HSI which I couldn't take out with the
compensator. We put a hand compass through the general
mounting area and found large deflections. This is in an area that
is mostly fiberglas and all the bolts were stainless or brass. The
only ferrous item in the area were the nut-plates. A degausser took
that out and voila: no deviation.
....easy to do when there are no dynamic
variations. I expect getting away from conductors more
important than anything else.....
