Becuase I'll be using the Engineair V8 instead of the Continental or Lycoming engines, I haven't found reliable data about where or if I can put these small batteries on the firewall. If there is anyone who has experience with these batteries in combination with the V8, would you please share info on battery placement? I'm told by Jim Rahm and some other builders that there is no room in the engine compartment, but I think maybe everyone I've asked is using standard aircraft batteries. If indeed the batteries wont' go forward of the firewall, could they be mounted on the forward face of the spar box underneath the pilot and copilot's seats? What would be the drawbacks of placing them here? Advantages include keeping CG forward and reducing the length of large wires thereby reducing weight and internal resistance in the starting circuit. Advice appreciated.
