The marker beacon is history. Any approach with a GPS as backup, noting every waypoint you could ever possibly want to know about, makes the rather inaccurate marker beacon a, uh, relic. If it is a long center tapped foil antenna, just glue it longwise in the bottom of the plane. Marker Beacon, my oh my. Grayhawk PS there is no approach altitude penalty if the beacon radio is inop.
