If you are going to fly this IMC then a good backup is a
must.
right. computers break. My near bulletproof garmin 530 had a display
failure in September after 5 years.
Garmin couldn't fix it after 2 tries so they swapped me for a different
one.
also, when computers break it's sudden and usually results in total loss of
usefulness.
not having a mechanical backup would be a bad idea in any plane but for
selfish reasons it would be nice if you didn't do this in a
IVP.
