Go ahead and mount roll servo as per plans. Max travel of aileron crossover tube is +/- 1.25" as per Lancair. Ailerons will reach max travel before roll servo capstan reaches 10/2 oclock position. My visual observation of capstan movement when connected to crossover tube is that due to geometry of setup, capstan will achieve greater travel to the right (right aileron) and less travel to the left (left aileron) before reaching unwanted control lockdown point. Therefore, as per S-Tec, center control sticks in neutral position and vertical BEFORE connecting pushrod to capstan. Do NOT locate capstan rod end connection at top dead center. Instead, rotate to the right between 5 to 10 degrees from TDC (each installation is a little bit different) and then connect pushrod. The reason for this is to take advantage of the fact that the capstan has more right aileron travel before reaching control lockdown point. Also, the travel limit stop provided in the S-Tec install kit provides for far too much travel than required for our installations. Once our installations are complete, provide S-Tec with accurate capstan movement and they will make a new limit stop for the installation at no charge.
