Hi folks,
Ok, it's time to paint N360ZR and I finally got my first estimate, a whooping $6,500!!! Add another $2,200 to clear coat it. The paint shop is recommending JetGlo polyurethane paint, made by Sherwin-Williams. I did a lot of body & prime work on the plane already and the entire fuselage is pretty smooth, sans some minor nicks. The cowling is a mess but this price does not include fixing the cowling, I have to do this myself. In addition, I have to remove all flying surfaces (i.e., ailerons, flaps, rudder, etc.) and ofcourse, install it back. The estimate states that it will include three (3) coats of the base white paint. The paint scheme is not too complex (see http://ourworld.cs.com/ricargente/page5.html), mostly white with a red bottom and red/dark gray stripes). So, my question, is this price in the ballpark? Could some of you guys tell me what it cost you to paint your LNC2? Also, I used PPG to prime and I'm not sure if it will cause me grief later on if Jet Glo paint is used. Any advice and recommendations will be most welcome... Rick Argente
