I have an assembly instructions from 1989 where Matco states that :

All "O" rings in the brake and master cylinder assembly are BUNA-N and are not compatible with automotive glycol based brake fluid. Red aircraft fluid or other suitable petroleum or silicon based fluid can ONLY be used.
