For those of you where
money, time and effort are not of primary concern, the Orenda V-8 engine is
alive in Texas. The potential is 500 hp cruise with .44 bsfc at 25,000
ft. Cooling drag would definitely be a priority consideration. Fred,
this would give new meaning to a "Big Cooling Project".
I have a TSIO 550 and I do
not have a horse in this parade except that we are going to make engine parts
for Trace and possibly do some engineering consultation. There appears to
be financial resources in place, with that, I have told you what I know
about this project. Finally, the above is opinion and should not be
construed as fact.
