Regarding canopy locks - I used a common Camlock brand cylinder purchased at the locksmith store, and installed it as shown on the following link.  I made the lock bar piece out of a piece of scrap steel and riveted it to the lock bar provided with the cylinder.  The basic design was not original, but it works quite well - using a half inch thick piece of phenolic to anchor the works in.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page when you get to the linked page.
