Subject: Wing Skin Fix Question

FYI,

Does anyone have any experience/suggestions on how you would fix a serious
Ding in an upper wing skin.  By "Ding" I mean a 3" hole/crack all the way
through the skin (outer/core/inner).  Assume the hole/crack is over the fuel
bay and inaccessible from the inside/bottom.

I'm thinking that either:

A): The entire skin needs to be removed to fix the inside and re-apply fuel
sealer, and then re-bond.

B):  Cut out an approx 2'x 2' piece of the skin, (between the spar and
ribs), then repair.  Then perhaps increase spar/rib flange bonding area,
then rebond the skin piece back in.  However, if not strong enough, this may
compromise the tortional rigidity offered by the single piece skin - or if
too strong, may create a stress point during normal wing deflection. (???)

C): Just open/clean the crack, fill the crack/hole with Hysol (fuel
impervious), then repair externally with appropriate bids and finish to a
smooth profile.

p.s. For those who know me, this is not my ES (thankfully).
