I was in Redmond today picking up my engine.

I ran into Joe B as I was working the paperwork with Kim L to prove that I
had paid for everything 9 months ago and, therefore, could take possession
 of my engine.

Joe and I chatted regarding my numerous posts about the Lancair IVP fuel
system and boost pump usage confusion.

Joe assured me that if I built my plane according to the documentation, I
would be just fine turning on the low boost ascending through 10K feet, then
turning it off descending through 10k feet.  That was the time proven method
for proper engine performance and that the procedure was absolute.  Except
for exceptions (temperature, altitude, phases of the moon...).

I asked Joe, since that procedure was so "standard," why that procedure was
not reflected in the checklist provided with the IVP.

His response was: "I provide that check-list as a courtesy, only."  He told
me that I am on my own to figure out what really needs to be done and to act
accordingly.  Then his cell phone rang and my time with him was over.

Therefore, since the checklist provided by Lancair is by way of "courtesy
only," I would be interested in what you, the Lancair flying community, have
devised as your day-to-day check lists, checklists that actually work in
the real world, as opposed to some inaccuracy offered by Lancair by way of
"courtesy only," which is admittedly inaccurate according to Joe Bartels.

I an especially interested in the Emergency Procedures checklists that you
guys have come up with, since the EP procedures from Lancair are admittedly
inaccurate and by way of "courtesy only" according to Joe.

If you have it figured out and are willing to share, please send me a copy
of your "right" checklist to j.hafen@comcast.net.

 Thanks and Regards,

 John Hafen
