I tore up my hangar today searching for the bill for my
electromagnets; 'couldn't find it. The two magnets I purchased had part numbers
of R0712-12 and R1007-12. I think the first two digits defines the holding force
in pounds, and the final two digits gives the voltage. The 1007 is 3/4"L and 1"
dia., and the 0712 is 1"L and 3/4" dia. I used the 1007-12. I mounted it
with an angle bracket in the back corner of the nose-gear cutout opposite
the hinge-line; they are tapped 10-32 in the top center of the round
device. I set the bracket sligh;y higher than the final position, then shimmed
the coil down to the proper place with washers. Opposite it on the gear
door I mounted a round pole piece. I actuated it from the gear switch in the UP
position. It really "sucks" the door closed! I found a web site, AEC Magnetics,
www.aecmagnetics.com, that has similar
units for 12V and 24V.
