There seems to be a very aggressive position from Lancair if anyone points out a flaw. The system is clearly flawed, and sooner or later you will change it. Ross, before you say Cook has not mentioned this to Lancair before, I suggest you get yourself educated. He said that he pointed it out many years ago, at Lakeland. Lancair (4PT) has the best little plane on the market, nothing else is even close. But the fuel system is dangerous. Easy to fix, but currently just dangerous. The plane down in Georgia had an additional small baggage area fuel tank (this is the area where Lancair says the fuel system was non standard). Current thinking by experts that went to the scene is that this tank ran dry and then air was introduced to the header tank. Ross. while you are in the mood to correct me, tell me only ONE think. HOW DO YOU GET AIR OUT OF THE HEADER TANK IN FLIGHT? One simple question. If you can't answer it, your system is flawed. Period.
