I started building my LNC2 in the UK under the auspices of the UK Popular Flying Asociation. My inspector, somewhat analogous to an EAA Technical Counselor, recommended using Duralac zinc chromate paste when making up metal to metal assemblies, particularly with dissimilar metals (like the 1000s of steel nutplates attached to aluminum with aluminum rivets). It's OK for permanent or temporary assemblies. Duralac is easily available in the UK where it is made and widely used also by the sailing community, but less so in the US. You can get it from Annapolis Performance Sailing at www.apsltd.com or 800 729 9767. Use neoprene or similar gloves when working with it. Back in the mid 1970s when I was working on the British Army's helicopters we used Jenolite to remove corrosion from airframe parts. I understand it's similar to the Naval Jelly that's available here.
