Tom,
Doing it once was bad judgement... getting back in and flying home was
beyond bad judgement. Recommending using a piece of hose clamped to the strut
says it all. I don't think Fred learned the lesson. I believe this forum is a
good place to discuss these kind of bloopers before they turn into fatal events.
A little "chastising" beats a funeral service any day.
