For some time the Pitch trim on my Infinity coolie hat trim switch has
required a firm push to actuate the Up trim, much more that the other
3 directions.  I was finally motivated to improve this condition when
I was in the rare passenger mode and watched fellow Lancair
owner/veteran pilot Alain Noireaux press but fail to actuate up trim
several times.

Assuming bad contacts, I was about 1/2 way into installing a new trim
switch when I notice that the coolie hat on the old switch was
actually hitting the grip when pushed down.  Upon closer comparison of
the old and replacement switch, I noticed the coolie hat is glued onto
the  New switch, while my Old coolie hat (10yrs old?) is a press fit
on the switch and removable.

With a little quick epoxy holding my old coolie hat in place (slight
further away from grip), it works perfectly now.  Something to look
for if you are having a similar problem.

Clark Baker
