Say, let's not forget RPM. After all,
HP = (RPM x Torque) / 5252
for a given engine, a fixed pitch prop produces its best thrust at some air
speed and rpm. I am sure air density has an effect on efficiency, too.
I think I'll stick with a constant speed prop. Nothing like a gear
shift to help get the most out of my engine in those situations where
I am not cruising at an optimal speed and altitude.
Gas just helps the pump move some air around......
