Their explanation was that those engines had been produced for a specific (not identified) individual, who wanted a turbocharged, (but not a high altitude engine). The E engine was produced as a high altitude engine and came with sonic nozzles. Our first 1V (N409) originally had a -A engine and shortly after it started flying at higher altitudes, suffered a couple of compressor stalls, an event that will get your attention.
