It has worked very well for about 350 hours since new. I have Facet pumps for each tank (left, right, header). My fuel selector has Main (left and right), Aux (header), and Off positions. My fuel selector is almost always in Main. If I need to burn fuel from just the left or right tank, I turn the opposite fuel pump off. If I run the wing tanks dry (I don't), then I'd switch the fuel selector to Aux and turn the header pump on. My biggest concern with this system was my reliance on electrical boost pumps. I overcame this by adding another battery. The boost pumps, electronic ignition, and other essential systems run off of either battery, and the batteries are isolated from each other. I haven't added aileron trim yet, so I customarily use my wing fuel for lateral trim by turning off a boost pump when needed. I have no idea whether or not there is such a thing as "old" fuel. Just in case, I drain the header occasionally, pour the fuel into the wing tanks, and refill the header with "new" fuel. The header tank is only used as a reserve tank. I test the header boost pump often. Aside from using the wing tank boost pumps for trim, and testing the header boost pump, my system is "set and forget". Per Lancair instructions, I used 3/8" tubing from all tanks. My leading edges are wet, giving me 30 gal per wing, 10.5 in the header (70.5 total fuel). Bill Kennedy N42BK
