Daniel" : Guys, There are a lot of common misunderstandings about eye problems. There are three common problems caused by the misshape of the eye...near sightedness (too steep shape), far sightedness (too flat shape), and astigmatism (ridges). All of these can potentially be fixed by glasses, contacts, and lasic. The other common problem is prespiopia (the lens of the eye not being able to stretch enough to focus at close distances), which occurs in most people over 40. This need for reading glasses is often confused with far sightedness, but is a completely different problem and in general cannot be fixed by lasic without the sacrafice of distance vision. I had lasic surgery 10 years ago after wearing contacts for 20 something years and have excellent vision except like most people over 40, I use reading glasses. Some people use different contacts in each eye...one for distance and one for reading. This is successful in some people but just gives most people a head ache. Unless you have cataracts and are ready to have your lens replaced, get used to reading glasses. Chat Daniel N891AC (interior being installed)
