After reading and talking to people about rebooting and lighting issues on PCs, I am very glad that I picked the 396. I had a 296 and knew that the display was readable in all conditions.
I upped my coverage from the $30 per month to the $50 dollar per month WxWorx plan. Unlike east and west, where you know that you should be high or low respectively, I fly north and south a lot. With the $50 dollar plan I get winds aloft. On 80% of my trips my altitude is based on the WxWorx winds aloft. I have been able to save at least $20 every month be using the winds aloft to set my altitude. I keep wanting to drop back down to the cheaper plan but it just doesn't make cost effective sense. I have never been able to use the prior days (when I do my flight plan) winds aloft to make a lot of use of them. Now I have up to date, time and money saving information while I am flying.
By the way, I now have my 296 for sale. It includes the auto kit and the marine maps for Lake Erie and the Gulf. If anyone is interested, please call.
