I told you someone would educate me :) BTW, We haven't done the tests Bob indicates, but we have seen vast improvements in reception and transmission. Before we would typically lose a controller or have bad reception on cross countries. These episodes have been completely eliminated. Picking up VOR's way out is not a problem anymore also. As far as NAV antennas, we do use the wiskers in the vertical and therefore, do not need a groundplane. Well worth it for good reception. In fact my ES (all E glass airplane) has all external antennas except for the GPS. Regards, Timothy Ong
