I was the one who set up the IV-P for appropriate climb/cooling
performance.
On standard day conditions, I was able to climb the aircraft at 140 to
145 KIAS. Typical rates of climb were around 2000 fpm into the high
teens. Hottest CHT was around 385dF on #2. We were using 38" x 2600
or 2700 RPM and holding the TIT down to about 1350 to 1380d F with fuel.
Ultimately the owner retrieved his airplane (darn it) and later called
me up one evening and chuckled when he told me that his local ATC folks
were complaining about his rate of climb - - as he was leaving through
airspace boundaries "vertically" instead of the more conventional
horizontal airspace boundary departures.
