Yo Scott!
Way to go. You must have been a professional Test Pilot in another life! It
sounds like a fairly definitive word on the ram air subject. Seems like my
friend with the Falco could just be about correct when he suggests that he's
getting around 2 inches boost at speed. He's running a 320 or 360 (can't
recall) but they injest close to the same amount of air per unit time
(assuming roughly the same cruise RPM - which seems reasonable).
What it all means, fellow readers, is that here's something we Experimental
types can Experiment with. Let's face it: 1.5 - 2.0 inches of MP for free is
quite worth the challenge. Speaking for myself, it's very hard to diddle
with a flying airplane - particularly cutting into things like a working air
induction system - but if I can get that much for free, I'm going for it!
(Besides, it's probably going to be too cold here in Coeur d'Alene in the
winter to fly much anyway).
