My L4P was painted by the great Tom Conners and was his 30 Th. Lancair that
he had painted at that time. Some of you have seen it and have told me that it
is very nice and I humbly agree. I pushed Tom into using House of Color because
I had researched it and wanted the best. This was a BIG mistake. Tom tried very
hard to get the Pearl White to cover on the wings and had to put so much paint
on to get coverage and it would dry at the edges of each pass that you
could see the overlap, he finally refused to use it. I had to agree. He strongly
suggested BASF which he used almost always before and that was the right
decision. I had called all the HofC technical folks in on the problems and they
finally agreed that it is best on smaller pieces and refunded my money. Tom is
not a rookie with painting so please don't use HofC paint on large
surfaces.
BASF is cheaper and has held up great and still looks new.
Good Luck,
Jim Hergert
