For those with Lycoming engines who want a vertically mounted oil filter,
B&C makes a bolt-on adapter which does exactly that. Here's a link to see

 I put one on the IO-540 in my ES and after punching a hole in my filter
and allowing it time to drain, it spins off without spilling a drop.
