A similar thing happened to me, only it was the seal on the left main cylinder that sprung a big leak.  A lesson to all of us: if the transit light stays on, you are probably pumping hydraulic fluid overboard.  Best thing to do is pull the pump breaker, then when ready to land use the dump valve to drop the gear, then close the valve and re-energize the pump on final to help hold the gear down.    Cycling the gear to see what is wrong will just use up your fluid and make a mess.

Went out this morning for a short flight in LNC2 N7PN.  It was shorter than I planned.  On takeoff, the gear transit light stayed on and the right main green light remained on ....
