Dan,
It sounds like it could have been some sort of dirt
or sealant that got loose in the system when you changed the pump 2 hrs
ago.
This might have restricted flow somewhere in a here
and gone fashion. Teflon tape is notorious for this.
I would disconnect fuel lines, filters and screens
looking for a culprit.
