I get a little concerned when I read that non-pilots are building a Lancair and then plan to take their initial training in it. That is like learning to ride a bicycle by jumping onto a Harley. But what concerns me more is that some pilots believe that they could move from a C-182 into an ES with little transition training. If nothing untoward were to happen then the flights would go just fine. But if there would be a problem then the pilot who handles it successfully would be the one who had spent a lot of time with a check pilot until flight in all regimens became automatic. A plane with a mechanical problem is a concern. A pilot with a fixation on that problem is a disaster. Robert M. Simon, ES-P N301ES in progress (Be gentle, my skin is thinner than Dan's)
