What a sad, sad story. Shannon sat in my aviation safety forum at OSH less than 24 hours before his death and listened to me recount similar tragic accidents. Many folks spent hours debating the merits of feathering props a few weeks ago -- but this accident points out that it is not necessarily how far you can glide but what do you do when you get there, that counts.
