Although they have been problem free for 600+hours and 5+ years, I have always felt they were marginal at best and unsafe at worst given the high landing speeds of our planes and that the brakes also provide the steering. Rather than replacing the last several feet with stainless braided hose (which still leaves the nylaflow for the rest of the run), I decide to use a single run of DHI instrument line, which was recommended by Brent Regan some time ago. The DHI is very lightweight, with three-ply braided polyamide construction, higher temperature rating, much higher burst strength, a small 15/16" bend radius, and UV/ozone proof. For additional protection, I used spiral nylon wrap around the exposed section running to the wheel. I now notice that the brake pedals have a firmer feel. The tubing is not cheap ($125 each), but well worth the much higher possible costs if the cheap nylaflow burst. Now, next step this Spring is to replace the Matco brakes (leaking again) with the Groves that I recently purchased. The parts I chose are listed below DHI 2 quantity - 13' (156")flexible tube with 1/8" Gyrolok nuts and ferrules installed: F1818NF-156 www.dhinstruments.com HOKE Gyrolok, 4 quantity - 2LM2(BR) - Male elbow 1/8 tube, 1/8 NPT www.hoke.com
