Well...

The good news according to Lee Mountz at the San Jose, CA FSDO is that 16# aluminum will be suitable. In his words "Steel will melt if the fire is hot enough. The regs specify the material be not a decal, sticker ect. There are several manufacturers that do indeed use aluminum and have provided data that they won't melt given a fire to some degree and it is acceptable to the FAA. 16# sounds more than suitable and will be acceptable".

So there you go. I just hope I won't melt first. Maybe I need to take up boating....Nahhh.

I have most everyone sold and will wait another couple days if there are any others interested. I have been asked about the adhesive and can suggest drilling #40 holes and pop-riveting it on. When I removed my last data plate (3M adhesive) I had to use a chisel and hammer. It took about ten minutes to remove.

To all who have given me an OK, I'll submit art Friday and have the data plates back in two weeks. I will promptly mail yours out.

Thanks so much. You guys are the best!
Don Barnes
