Walter, definitely for dyno testing and possibly for real world flying. If cold starts are not a problem and oil pressure does not get to high and decent oil temp is obtained before take-off, then yes. Like so many things in life.....so many trade offs.  I'll probably put 20W50 in my TSIO 550 even though I live in Phoenix. I'll be in Denver and I would not like the straight 50W there. I am not a fan of changing oil brands or viscosity. I pick something and stay with it. By the way, in my opinion Phillips makes a good oil relative to durability.
